I went to the Opera and A Bowl Game Broke Out!
I can hear the talk around the coffee machine this week….
“Did you catch that South Florida vs. East Carolina game in the Papajohns.com bowl?”
Seriously, watching a mediocre teambeat up on a bad team in nobody’s idea of a good time. I think there were more points scored than fans in the stands.
To review, as of Christmas Day, the average winning margin so far has been 20 points with no single game even within a touchdown. Is anybody still awake?
Does NCAA Football really need to be like the NBA, where half the teams get to play in the postseason? Did you know there are 32 bowl games, which means that 64 out of 119 teams get to play in a bowl game!
Here’s how things would change under the new BCS (Blogarati Championship Series):
- Top 20 teams in the BCS rankings get in
- Top 4 get a bye in first two rounds
- Bottom 16 play two rounds of playoff, before Jan 1, to get down to 4
- Jan 1 – 4 BCS games between the top 4 teams & 4 teams from the playoff
- Jan 8 – Semi-Finals
- Open Week before SuperBowl – National Championship Game
Thoughts???
